Unsur utama dalam penyelenggaraan pendidikan tinggi adalah pelaksanaan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi yang meliputi Pendidikan, Penelitian, dan Pengabdian pada Masyarakat. Institut Teknologi dan Bisnis (ITB) Indragiri juga memiliki kewajiban untuk melaksanakan Tri Dharma tersebut, salah satunya penelitian Dosen dan mahasiswa.

Terkait hal tersebut, Dosen ITB Indragiri dari Program Studi (Prodi) S1 Agribisnis, Teknik Sipil, dan Manajemen melakukan “Penelitian Kolaboratif” bersama mahasiswa dan Balai Penyuluhan Pertanian Kecamatan Kuala Cenaku. Penelitian tersebut untuk memenuhi kewajiban Tri Dharma dan pencapaian Indeks Kinerja Utama (IKU) Perguruan Tinggi.

Tujuan penelitian tersebut adalah untuk menganalisis produksi dan produktivitas padi sawah dalam menunjang ketahanan pangan. Penelitian tersebut diharapkan dapat menghasilkan suatu kajian keilmuan dan memberikan manfaat bagi petani-petani yang ada di Kecamatan Kuala Cenaku.
